Around The World sponsored by
the MacLean Foundation
March thru April and December 2007
During the school year
the theme and its displays will be available for loan to schools
within a three hour radius of Eagle River. The theme’s displays will expose
northern
Wisconsin families to unique aspects of other cultures. Multiple stations are
planned.
The displays include;
• Three dimensional continent cutouts for the youngest visitors to explore the
peoples, animals, boats, planes and trains in African deserts, South American
rain forests, North American
mountains and more.
• A magnetic map for placing famous sites and landmarks on the seven continents.
• A cloth USA map to place velcro landmarks, states and capitals.
• Magnetic board for matching coins & countries and for matching countries to
their capitals.
• An interactive "dictionary" with common languages and phrases
• Dress up area with clothes from around the world.
• A table with place settings from different countries.
• Art table painted with countries and their flags stocked with a flag making
craft.
• A featured workshop craft offered as part of the theme where children paint a
diorama of their
favorite continent and its animals.
While the “Around the World” theme’s primary focus is on understanding other
cultures,
the theme will be supported with music, crafts and art from other countries
which gives
this project a multi-dimensional appeal.
